The nomination process for the Tandur Municipality elections witnessed brisk activity yesterday (January 29), as a total of 97 candidates filed their nomination papers on the second day.

Candidates from major political parties including Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AIMIM, Janasena, along with several Independent candidates, submitted nominations across various municipal wards.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash near Baramati in Pune district on Wednesday morning, according to confirmations from reputed national news agencies and official sources.

The incident occurred when a chartered aircraft carrying Pawar was attempting to land at Baramati airport. Aviation authorities confirmed that the aircraft lost control during the final approach and crashed near the runway.

No Survivors Reported

Officials stated that all five people on board the aircraft lost their lives in the accident. The victims included Ajit Pawar, two pilots, and two accompanying personnel. Emergency teams rushed to the crash site immediately after the incident, but no survivors were found.
